Continuing from Phase 1

During Phase 1 of IS101-3003/5, Spring 2026 I felt I did not apply myself as much as I should of. Due to personal events, I had been focused on either that or other classes. I had to catch up toward the deadline to ensure I was prepared for my MO-110 word certification exam. In the future I would like to prioritize IS101 and ensure that I focus more on doing my assignments. I feel dedicating more time to assignments and due dates will keep me on track to success.

Since I have already completed the MO-110 Word certification exam and passed, I will discuss how I prepared for it. I took time to study each project and module in LabSim before actually taking the exam. I focused on the portions that were giving me trouble and went back to watch the videos in LabSim to give me clarity on what I was doing wrong.

I have completed an 8 week course of English 102 with a 94 so I feel good about that. I am continuing to succeed in college and ensuring I complete my assignments on time. IS101 seems to be my most challenging course for some reason. I don't like check list and IS101 seems to be a lot of those. For me to succeed I will likely backtrack to week one and check every list of assignments that I need to complete to catch up and succeed.

  1. Hi Casey, juggling school with everything else is honestly the hard part, especially when it feels like you’re just going from one requirement to another without a break.

I get what you mean about IS101 feeling like a checklist, but that’s kind of how jobs work too, it’s just less obvious. Like a waiter, they have a bunch of tasks, greeting customers, taking orders, checking on tables, bringing food, handling payments, but they don’t see it as a checklist, they just keep everything in their head and flow through it.

I think IS101 is kind of training us the same way, just more structured at first so we don’t miss anything. It can feel overwhelming now, but once it clicks, it becomes more natural. It sounds like you’re starting to figure that part out, even with everything else going on.

May you prioritize IS101 higher in your life, catch-up and finish the 16-week IS101-3005, Spring 2026 also on a high note ^_^

  3. Hello Casey. I also had to catch up at one point in Phase 1 but it was doable. I'm happy that you passed the MO-110 Exam! IS101 is definitely challenging so you're not alone there. Good luck on the next exam.

  4. Hi Casey!! Congrats on your English 102 grade, that’s a strong score. I can relate to what you said about having personal things and other classes pulling your attention, it really makes it hard to stay fully focused on one course. It sounds like you still made a solid effort to prepare for the MO-110 though, especially by going back through LabSim and reviewing the parts you struggled with. That’s actually one of the best ways to learn it.

  5. Congrats on the english class! I definitely agree on spending more time will lead to success. Especially trying to be ahead feels like an extra bonus as the class feels like you can make of it with your own time if you are ahead. Still while not feeling you are rushing and not learning the material.

  6. Hi Casey. I am glad that you are being honest about your performance in Phase 1. It can be hard to balance multiple classes. However, what can help you is making your own schedule to follow, as it will give you more motivation to work on assignments from all your classes.

  7. Hey Casey, getting an A on English 102 on an 8 week course is impressive. I took the same class but it was 16 weeks, so it must have been double the work for you and honestly, if you can do that, I think you'll do well in this class. Also, taking the time to go back to the lessons and study them is the right I idea, it'll definitely help a lot. Hope everything works out for you this semester!

  9. Hi Casey, congrats on your English class a 94 percent is excellent. I dealt with the same thing where personal issues got in the way of my studies but all you can do is keep pushing forward. Although the class is full of check marks it helps that we have are assignments laid out ahead of time. You can always jump ahead and go back if it makes you feel more in control of your assignments.

  10. Casey, it seems that you and I have similarities in phase 1. I also didn't apply to much to myself to work on IS101. I was working on another task rather than working on IS101 or Labsim. Now that I know that IS101 needs a little focus to learn. I apply myself to a good strategy; you should also have a strategy or something similar to keep up with IS101.

  14. Hi Casey, life gets hard sometimes and a lot of it is out of our control, so there’s no reason to feel bad about that. What matters is that you pushed through and set new goals for yourself moving forward. I’m really glad to see that, good luck, you’ve got this.

  16. Congrats on passing the MO-110 exam and getting a 94 in ENG 102, that’s really good. I also get what you mean about IS101 feeling overwhelming sometimes with all the checklists, but it sounds like you already have a solid plan to get back on track.

  17. The checklist structure of IS101 is something that I commend our professor for doing since it is structured like that and easy to follow. However, I strongly agree that sometimes the structure doesn't let you learn and just keeps on making you check the list, preventing you from absorbing the material. I like the way you think about backtracking. As tedious it can be, it is beneficial to re-learn those chapters again just for the lesson to simmer and stick in your mind.
