Personally, I actually enjoyed Phase 2: Microsoft Excel and URL Components and Social Engineering. I enjoy the functions and how they operate and it seems more rewarding learning about something new like Excel than Microsoft Word. Microsoft Word is all about navigating and understanding how to use the UI which I don't like. Excel was more about understanding separate functions which I enjoyed learning. A6 Spreadsheet Analysis with trailer was actually a very good learning experience.
I think I did really well on Phase 2. Today I take the exam for Excel. I feel very comfortable with the information in Excel practice exam. There's nothing I would of done differently in studying for my exam or Phase 2. For the Exam I usually do my practice exams the night before so the information is fresh in my mind. I prepared by doing every part of the Excel Labsim and watching every video. I feel like I am ready.
I applied the information I have learned in Phase 2 by preparing for accounting, which is coming up when I transfer to UNLV. Understanding Excel has helped me to prepare for my future classes. I have been behind for IS101 most of the semester. I want to finish strong and complete all my assignments and prepare for the summer.
Very glad to hear you actually enjoyed Phase 2: Microsoft Excel and URL Components and Social Engineering, Casey :-) Most students find this to be the most challenging and frustrating phase. I'm even more glad to hear you found A6 Spreadsheet Analysis with Trailer to be a good learning experience.
ReplyDeleteYou will finish IS101-3003/5, Spring 2026 strong! May you do well in the summer session and transfer to UNLV smoothly ^_^
Hi Casey, I'm also transferring to UNLV for an Accounting degree, maybe I'll see you there! Continue learning and finish strong!
ReplyDeleteOne of the first blog post that I read that they enjoy excel. While it is interesting to learn Excel, personally I never liked it while I know it would be useful in the future. I hope I get your enthusiasm with Excel when I use it outside of the class. Hopefully your transfer to UNLV is a success and smooth.
ReplyDeleteHi Casey. I also enjoyed learning Excel, is really fun to interpret all the function and everything else you can do in Excel. Moreover, I think this new skills will be really helpful for my future as I also plan to transfer to UNLV to pursue Finance.
ReplyDeleteHello Casey, I didn't quite enjoy Excel like you did but I do appreciate the value of knowing how to use the program. Good luck on your new journey at UNLV, I hope to follow in those footsteps and transfer over there as well.
ReplyDeleteHi Casey, honestly this surprised me because I personally enjoy Word much more than Excel. Word feels more creative with the formatting, layouts, and design choices, while Excel feels like pure brain power because you have to learn functions, logic, and memorize so many concepts at once.
ReplyDeleteI still struggle a lot with IF functions because sometimes the logic behind them completely confuses me. That is why it is interesting to see someone prefer Excel over Word, because to me that usually means you probably have a more analytical way of thinking. Maybe you would actually enjoy accounting more than suffering through formatting problems like the rest of us 😂.
Casey, I honestly felt the same way about Excel being more rewarding to learn than Word. The functions made things feel more practical once they started making sense. Good luck on your Excel exam too, you sound really prepared for it.
ReplyDeleteHi Casey, it sounds like you had a real easy phase two which is nice because for me it was very difficult to grasp the functions without assistance. I had to review the chapter a few times to get comfortable with retaining the information. I know if I could read the functions, it would be easier, but it was very confusing at times. Especially when some parts of the function weren't necessary or quotations were needed.
ReplyDeleteHello Casey, it's great to see you're content about how you approached this phase and even enjoyed while doing it. I would like to have that same feeling while covering my classes in the near-future. Best of luck!
ReplyDeleteHi Casey. I'm happy that you enjoyed excel so much and I'm sure you did great on your excel exam. Personally, I liked word better because the format is much more familiar to me. Good luck with transferring to UNLV! I hope your summer goes well.
ReplyDeleteHi Casey, it was interesting seeing someone actually enjoy Excel more than Word 😠I agree that learning the functions can feel more rewarding once you understand how they work. It also sounds like you prepared really well for the exam by doing all the labs and practice tests. Good luck on your Excel exam!!
ReplyDeleteHey Casey, there's so many functions I probably forgot about them but there is so much useful tools in this phase, it's impossible to forget and there's always something for something.
ReplyDeleteHi Casey, I agree that A6 was a great learning experience. I enjoyed being able to learn functions, format tables, and get to unleash my creativity.
ReplyDeleteHello Casey. Excel was fun! I also enjoyed learning the functions, and I too found it more enjoyable than learning Word.
ReplyDeleteHi Casey! Glad to hear you can apply your Excel skills to your future doing accounting activities! Have fun at UNLV!!
ReplyDeleteHey Casey, I really like your confidence on how you approach the Excel exam, that's a good habit to keep. Good luck on your next semester in UNLV, hope all goes well!
